Following the recent GOVERNNMENT announcement regarding the next stage of the roadmap (this still feels/sounds like we are part of a film or something but anyway I digress) we, as a business, will be continuing to operate how we have done last summer and since we opened this season.

All these things are not to spoil your holiday, but to keep people safe, our business remaining open and to avoid anymore inconvenience.

To clarify these rules are….
We have reduced availability for obvious reasons and we will not be accepting walk-ins, therefore you will need to book first, before arriving. Because of this I would advise booking early to avoid disappointment. We can’t wait to see you!!

Again for this year our reception will be closed, you will not be able to go in to the building and we will not have the small shop on site. This is again to reduce risks further, this will mean we will have NO ice pack freezing facilities or battery charging facilities. (We do apologise for this but believe it’s the right decision for us) There is a shop at the top of our road though that is fully stocked with lots of
convenience items.

-We have reduced capacity on site to allow for more room for social distancing.
-All our bookings will be taken on line as we will be operating a contactless system
-We will provide sanitiser where appropriate at the entrance to all facilities and water taps
-We have increased our cleaning regime with our facilities

-We will limit the amount of people in the
shower/toilet block and laundry facilities
-We have put in place an easier queuing system for the facilities, to allow for lower transmission risks.
-We will ensure the chemical waste disposal is cleaned more regularly

What we ask of you in return to show you care:

-If you are displaying symptoms of Coronavirus, such as a temperature, a continued cough or a loss of smell or taste please stay at home and order a test.
-If you do become ill with any of the above symptoms, whilst staying with us, please leave immediately and inform us.
-Before you arrive please ensure you have paid in full for your stay. Please have proof of this payment on your arrival, on your phone ready.
-All campers to vacate their pitch by midday and arrive for your stay between 14.00-18.00hrs. Please do not come on site earlier than this and we will not be accepting late arrivals.
-We request you to bring your own hand gel, for other settings you may find yourselves in.
-We ask you to bring FACE MASKS/COVERINGS with you to ensure as and when needed, you can wear them when social distancing is not possible, such as IN OUR FACILITIES.
-We ask you to leave the facilities as you have found them, clean and tidy.
-Please use the sanitiser provided before entering the facilities
-Please queue as requested for the facilities
-Please wash your hands as often as possible and after using the facilities.
-When tipping your chemical waste, please ensure you use the sanitiser gel provided before and after and keep the area clean
-Please take responsibility for your children whilst on site, they cannot be playing in and around the shower block, water taps or interfering with the sanitiser stations.
-Due to our reception being closed, if no one greets you at the entrance to the campsite, please park up and make your way to the bungalow. Please ring the bell at the top of the bungalow car park to ensure social distancing is adhered to and we can check you in from there and give you directions on where you can pitch up. (This also includes informing you what electric pitch you are allocated)

All these things are not to spoil your holiday, but to keep people safe, our business remaining open and to avoid anymore inconvenience.

Lets get back to basics. Remember the holidays we had as kids?

Higher Pentreath Campsite Ltd is all about getting back to basics, taking away all the stresses of modern life and ensuring our customers are valued by keeping our prices the same all year round

Our campsite looks over the stunning mile long beach of Praa Sands, which is a short walk from the campsite. Set on the beautiful south coast of Cornwall we are in just the right location to explore Cornwall at its best.

We are a family run campsite which we opened in the 1950's, and have recently become a limited company, with the next generation taking over the reins, you may see a glimpse of the land owner, a true, hardworking, Cornishman (but no guarantees you will understand him though). We are rustic, proud of our heritage and we have camping in our blood. A particular fond memory would be when a television was moved outside to the garden to ensure our campers could watch the 1966 World Cup final, to see England win! We have many treasured memories like this and look forward to making many more.

Whats Around

So whats around the area?

Being in our stunning location of Praa Sands, we are spoilt for choice, with miles of coastal footpaths to explore(some starting from the farm itself) to the hidden gems just on our door step.

To let you into some of this areas little secrets heres a few handy tips:

If you like Praa Sands beach but want it a bit more secluded go to the Rinsey end, (go into Praa sands and turn just down from the post office) park up and you will have you're own little slice of heaven.

Best Pasties (in our humble opinion)

Gear Farm in St Martin, its a bit further out, past Helston, but well worth the trip! Their Flaky steak has melt in the mouth pastry and an ample amount of Meat and Vegetables. Ansum! (Look them up)

Best place to go for a cream tea

(We love) Little Pengelly farm, (a 15 minute drive) its like walking into someones beautiful garden, its small and intimate but you are always greeted by a smiling face and the most amazing home cooked food. They serve light lunches and afternoon teas. But please remember being in Cornwall we like you to embrace the cornish ways and ALWAYS put the Jam on first then the cream! (its a rule)

Best pubs around

There is several within 5 minutes drive, both welcome families. The sandbar is a short walk from the campsite and a beautiful setting right on the beach, they serve lovely food and regularly has live music. Or there is the Falmouth Packet in Rosudgeon, it has won many awards for its outstanding food, including pub of the year. (It really is yummy!)

Best Ice Cream

Roskillys is a little further a field, near st Keverne (approx a 35 minute car journey from the campsite), but worth the drive, its where the famous Roskilly ice cream is made, they do lovely lunches, the best ice cream and you can look around the working farm and maybe buy some souvenirs while you're there.

Other Attractions

There is many other attractions to explore around our area such as:

the historic St Michaels Mount (7 minute car journey)

the most westerly point Lands End (50 minute car journey)

the theme park Flambards (15 minute car journey)

and the open air theatre cut out of the cliff, the Minack Theatre (50 minute car journey) this is a must, its stunning there and so different, the shows that are performed there come alive with the extraordinary setting!

There are 2 roads that turn off the main road leading into Praa Sands we advise that you take the road which is next to the Filling Station, opposite is Newtown Angling Centre.

On site the land owner has also a cosy 1 bedroom holiday apartment available to let for those that prefer a few more home comforts.

Coachmans is part of the old farmhouse and it's name was taken from when the stage coaches use to park their carriages on the farm when people would come here to stay (even then Higher Pentreath was use to hospitality!)

It is a 1 bedroom apartment with a small kitchen/lounge and bathroom.
